It’s been an entire year since my friend Derek’s life was taken away from him. It feels like just yesterday we were talking. I miss him so much. What a kind, and outgoing person he was. He left behind so many friends. I miss his advice, his humor, and his stories. I miss everything about him. He was someone I could trust. He was a great friend. Rest in peace my man. See you soon.

Awesome tattoo Derek’s brother got in memory of him. Derek was so loved. Out of the many tattoo dedications I’ve seen, this is by far is my favorite.

Today I heard the news I had been waiting for. The scumbag who took your life was caught. I’m overjoyed by this. More news will come soon. I know you’re smiling down at this asshole right now while he’s sitting in his cell. I love you and miss you.
Derek, today I visited your grave with Amanda and my mom. We found a beautiful tree with lights and everything. We left an ornament that Amanda made with a photo of you. Amanda also left an Iron Man mask with a message for you. We miss you so much man. It was so hard to go today. It’s hard every day. I love you brother. Happy birthday.
